Days Between Dates Calculator (Days & Nights)
Count days or nights between two dates. For a hotel stay, enter your check-in and check-out dates and leave “Include end date” unticked.
How to calculate it
From 1 January to 2 January is one day. Select “Include end date” to count both dates, giving two days instead. Weekends and public holidays are included.
Calendar days, inclusive days and nights
For elapsed days, enter a start and end date and leave the end date excluded. Friday to Monday is three days. For a count that includes both dates, select “Include end date”: Friday through Monday is four calendar dates. For hotel stays, the excluded-end result is also the number of nights, since check-out day is not an overnight stay.

Frequently asked questions
How many nights are there between two dates?
Enter your arrival date as the start date and your departure date as the end date. Leave “Include end date” unticked. The day count is also the number of nights: Friday to Sunday is two nights.
Do I include the check-out date when counting hotel nights?
No. You leave on the check-out date, so that night is not part of the stay. Arriving and departing on the same date gives zero nights.
Are leap years handled?
Yes. February 29 is included when it falls within the selected date range. Gregorian leap years are divisible by four, except century years unless divisible by 400.
Does this count working days?
No. All calendar days are counted, including weekends and public holidays. For a working-day count, use the business days calculator.
Do daylight-saving changes affect the result?
No. Dates are compared at UTC midnight so clock changes cannot add or remove a calendar day. This is a date count, not the exact elapsed hours between local times.
How can I count down to a specific date, like a birthday or holiday?
Set the start date to today and the end date to the date you are counting down to. The result shows how many days remain.
Can I calculate weeks or months instead of days?
For whole weeks, divide the day count by 7. Months are not a fixed number of days, so convert manually using a calendar for exact month counts.
