Percentages

Discount calculator

Calculate the price after a percentage discount and see the amount saved. Use any currency; the result stays in the same currency.

How to calculate it

A discount removes a percentage of the original price. For an item priced at 80 with 25% off, the saving is 80 × 0.25 = 20. Subtract that from the original price to get a sale price of 60.

Sale price = original price × (1 − discount ÷ 100)

Frequently asked questions

Does the result include tax or delivery?

No. This tool applies one discount to the price you enter. Add any relevant taxes, delivery charges, or fees separately.

How are prices rounded?

The displayed sale price and saving are rounded to two decimal places. Retailers may use different rounding rules, so the checkout price is authoritative.

Can I enter two discounts?

Calculate the first discounted price, then enter that result as the original price for the second discount. Adding two discount percentages usually overstates the saving.

Method: standard arithmetic. Examples are illustrative. How our calculators work.

Let’s work it out.

60.00

You save 20.00 (25% off)

Step by step

  1. Calculate the saving: 80 × 25 ÷ 100 = 20.00.
  2. Subtract the saving: 80 − 20.00 = 60.00. Amounts use the same currency you entered; tax and delivery are excluded.
